Meet the Redhead team

Simone • Owner • Head Vet

Simone graduated from the University of Sydney with honours in 1993. She has worked in many practices both in Australia and the UK over the last 29 years.

She previously was founder and owner of Paw Prints Veterinary Clinic in Gwandalan which she sold in 2000. Since leaving PP she has worked in emergency, held veterinary director / manager roles in several practices, and spent time in Nicaragua doing aid work.

She obtained membership by examination to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal surgery in 2000 and completed a small animal surgical internship.

Simone’s interests lie in soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine and geriatric care. She values the mantra of growing old successfully (don’t we all?) and focuses on ways in which we can help our beloved pets do this. Additionally, Simone has a budding interest in feline medicine and rehabilitation and hopes to incorporate more individualised treatments in these areas as the practice grows.

Simone is super excited to be sharing this new journey with her team, who she considers a part of her family along with her partner Luke, son Kody, two crazy rescue fur kids and Muz.

Caitlyn• Veterinarian

Caitlyn grew up on the Central Coast and graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2018. She completed additional training in small animal and equine anaesthesia at the University hospital, prior to working in a busy small animal practice in Dubbo for 3.5 years.

In 2022 Caitlyn and her partner James made the move back to Newcastle starting at Redhead Vets in 2023. Caitlyn is interested in all aspects of small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery, with a passion for sighthounds and geriatric/end of life care.

When not at work she enjoys renovating, gardening, playing social sport and spending time with her Greyhond Misty.

Kylie • Practice Manager

Kylie completed her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2005.

She is our go-to girl for equipment repair and maintenance. A qualified fear-free handler, she is passionate about patient care and welfare, especially for our feline friends. She has three rescue kitty cats – Spencer, Lulu and Mo and a rescue kelpie “Penny” which keeps her very busy.

She has worked at clinics around the Hunter, Central Coast and UK.

Kylie also previously worked with Simone at Paw Prints Vet Clinic, Gwandalan.
